I love how magical the world looks early in the misty autumn mornings. It takes me back to the innocence of my childhood - I was one of those dreamy kids with a lot of imagination, seeing fairies and monsters everywhere. Back then, I looked at those hills and thought that they were enormous, They were mountains to me, high and mighty with mist at the top. Little did I know haha. But I guess everything seems larger when you yourself are smaller, not to mention inexperienced ;).

I see no comments were made yesterday. I think everyone is feeling a little ragged. I was assembling an ikea drawer unit on casters and just didn't have time to come and comment.
ReplyDeleteI love a picture like this. So soft, so ethereal. It also reminds me of fantasy, mystery and fairies (one of my favorite subjects to draw).
I really like that soft tinge of blue at the top just peaking through the fog.

No worries, I'm snowed over with work myself. Cool, that can certainly be a project. We usually buy our furniture there too, they have a lot of great stuff.
DeleteIt's been way too long since I painted anything for real, I just don't seem to have the time (or inspiration) for it anymore, photography is faster, yet it's very relaxing to sit down and draw once in a while. Maybe I should make the time :)
I had a look through your Illo portfolio at W1K (you made me curious). You're very talented Maggie! There was so many wonderful fairies (and other illos) there. Wow :)
Natalie, I thought you knew that I did illustrations. I don't do many drawings on paper anymore; I use a Wacom pad and pen.... ah, layers, undo.. :-D they help, a lot! :-) when I started drawing digitally, I didn't understand what brushes to use etc., and everything was soft and blurry but I've learned a lot since then (although I will admit to spending crazy amount of hours working on images when I'm in the zone) but like you, I have a larger love for photography!
DeleteAh, the zone! it's wonderful when you're there :). I remember I sat with a pencil drawing throughout a whole night once, without realizing that the hours went by. It's so cool when that happens. You make me want to draw again reminding me of that "creative flow". I've long talked about having a little art studio in the attic. Maybe I'll finally set it up once things calm down a bit :)
DeleteI love misty mornings but unfortunately I see them mostly on days that I'm running late and don't have the time to stop and shoot (or forgot the camera). Last month I set the alarm several times but only on a few days I actually got up to go out and shoot. The other days I was to tired and fell asleep again.
ReplyDeleteThat seems like a wise decision, especially now that the days are growing colder and the bed is so nice and warm. I've made a compromise - I stand up a quarter earlier - so that I can take the time to shoot on my way to work. That way it's not long enough for me to give in ;)
DeleteI don't see many misty mornings where I live now, sometimes there is misty evenings, after a bit of rain, but not usually in the mornings. aybe I'm just not in the right places at the right times.
